SUZY HENDERSON

I’ve always been deeply curious about the past. My maternal grandparents served during World War II, and their stories of bravery and sacrifice have inspired me since childhood, sparking a lifelong fascination with history and the people who lived it. Once I began researching, I couldn’t resist sharing what I discovered through fiction.

My writing journey began with WWII historical fiction, but I’ve since explored other genres, including contemporary romance. What unites my work is a belief that the past never truly leaves us—it shapes who we are and the stories we tell today.

My debut novel, The Beauty Shop, remains closest to my heart. Inspired by the true story of the RAF Guinea Pig Club, it received a B.R.A.G. Medallion and heartfelt praise from two former WWII pilots who told me they loved the aerial scenes. That moment meant more to me than any award ever could.

My second novel, Madame Fiocca was inspired by the real-life SOE agent, Nancy Wake. I am now diving into a new WW2 series that has been more challenging than my other books, but as I sit here drinking endless cups of tea, I am glad to say I am making good progress.

The bestselling Christmas in the Highlands was the first contemporary romance novel I released, and I am currently working on a new romantic fiction series.

Hailing from the North of England

I live with my family in a charming corner of Cumbria, where the landscape and changing seasons constantly inspire me. Our Victorian sandstone home stays cool in summer and warms beautifully in winter when the stoves are lit. It’s the perfect setting for writing stories rooted in history, courage, and hope.

My writing room looks out over open countryside, with fields dotted with sheep and old stone farmhouses. When I write, I need only two things: peace — and copious amounts of tea. As Winston Churchill once said, “Tea is more important than ammunition.”

When I’m not writing, I love exploring the local countryside, reading by the fire, or losing myself in a good series on Netflix, always with a steaming mug of tea close to hand.
